Job Title:                    Food Service Employee

Department:               School Food Service

Reports to:                 Cafeteria Manager

FLSA Status:               Nonexempt

 

Primary Function:

            Directed by the school nutrition manger, participates in food preparation in any area, serving of food, setting up counters, cashiering, operating dishwashing machine and cleanup of kitchen facilities and serving areas.

 

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  2. Some knowledge and experience in quantity cookery preferred.
  3. Ability to learn and work in all areas of kitchen.
  4. Must be able to read and covert recipes to certain quantities.
  5. Certificate from the health department permitting him/her to handle food. Must have evidence of a negative TB test and/or chest x-ray.
  6. Ability to work cooperatively with cafeteria staff.
  7. Must have excellent personal hygiene.

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. To work in area assigned by manager.
  2. Prepare any food products listed on daily menu.
  3. To be responsible for proper use, operation and cleanliness of all equipment and areas of the kitchen.
  4. To accept alternating assignments on the serving line, in the dish room and, if directed by the manager, on the cash register.
  5. To keep work and service areas and equipment clean and sanitary and avoid backlog of unwashed areas, equipment and utensils.
  6. To clear and clean dining area tables and chairs during and after meal service and sweep the floor in the kitchen preparation area.
  7. To set up hot & cold serving lines with all menu items and replenish as needed.
  8. To move and store food and supplies, including proper storage of leftovers.
  9. To observe areas where help is needed and do whatever is needed to expedite the work.
  10. To perform such other tasks and assume other responsibilities as the manager or assistant manager may assign.
  11. To cooperate willingly and follow instructions.
  12. Serve students and staff with proper portions of any products prepared.
  13. To display to students, faculty, staff and co-workers an attitude to accommodate and cooperate.
  14. Carry out all trash, when necessary.
  15. Attend training and complete all necessary hours of continued education required by state and federal programs.

         

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  184 days

 

EVALUATION:

            Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of classified personnel.
