FLSA Status: Exempt

Pay Scale:  Teacher A + stipend (12 month) or B (10.5 month)

General Description:

Provides a full range of professional pupil/student services activities in the areas of academic, personal, career development, and guidance counseling for students at school to which assigned; organized, and assists with the utilization of educational, occupational, and personal development information; plans, schedules, and organizes sequential counseling activities and assessment activities consistent with students’ academic, career, and personal needs. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Good knowledge of school counseling, career education methods, materials, procedures, practices, and testing.
  2. Good knowledge of child/adolescent growth and development and career education counseling theory.
  3. Ability to apply knowledge of contemporary school counseling practices to the needs of assigned students.
  4. Ability to develop cooperative working relationships with students, parents, and instructional staff.
  5. Ability to maintain accurate records and confidentiality.
  6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 
  7. Excellent organizational, planning and human relations skills. 

Education, Training, and Experience Requirement:

Physical Attributes/Demands:

Work requires normal physical attributes required for walking, standing, sitting, operating office equipment, communication equipment, lifting, moving, carrying light equipment, supplies etc. 

Most of the time work involves only exposure to normal, everyday risks; however, some activities may involve working with students with disabilities that require knowledge of intervention and restraint techniques.

Work is subject to deadlines and inherent in tailoring and delivering programs to meet the needs of many divergent groups. Some night and weekend activities may be required.

 

Evaluation: 

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with the school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of instructional personnel.
